Michiel van Erp was born in Amsterdam in 1978, during his formative years he grew a love for a broad spectrum of music ranging from Vangelis to early bleep & breakbeat tracks.

By which time Michiel's musical output had already become prolific with a variety of pseudonyms (most notably 'Trenzer') veering from ambient to lounge via electronica. These earlier works were soon catching the eye of mp3.com visitors, proven by the many raving reviews in those days. With only a few songs online the need for a full CD grew.

"You ought to put up more songs and create a CD. You are one of our more consistently popular instrumental artists." An email Michiel got from the mp3.com crew in 1998.

Michiel's first album 'Intentions' was released in 1999, featuring songs as 'Jungle' and 'Summer Nights' which reached the top40 at mp3.com for several weeks. Listeners were taken with the lush instrumentation and the emotion of the elegant, simple and beautiful music.

"Especially the song 'Jungle' got a lot of attention, which was a bit strange because the production wasn't very professional. However, people began to discover this creation and other songs at mp3.com and it hasn't really stopped since then."

Since the release of his album Michiel is writing and recording new songs as well as composing soundtracks for several movies.
