Cool tunes you have there. Killer party stuff despite being different than what we do.

We are playing them at our party her in LAS VEGAS, USA out of our Yamaha O2R into JBL PA with killer EQ. You sound great.

By the way, nice CD artwork.

I’ve just been listening to your ‘Bombay Breakout’ track – absolutely brilliant!
(Any chance of an extended mix so I can chill out all night long!!!)

Have you done any other songs with that type of eastern synth sound?

I’m currently downloading the rest of your tracks, however I would like to buy your album when it is available in the UK.

Thanks for an amazing track anyway…

Dear Michiel,

About terms “realized person” and “ideality”, I think it is something you are about. Your picture is radiating positive energy as well as your music. Please do as much as you can for the time given to you…
We Russians here in USA trying to introduce Russian (namely technical) concept of Ideality (solving contradictions). I am not sure why I like your music, but I thing there is something about emotional energy balance and correlation of rhythm with human’s internal vibrations.
God bless you!

drum n beat/jungle type music with some “kickass piano shit” as you said. 🙂  Its music like this that makes all the time I waste on mp3.com lookin for cool music worth it.  Any plans for releasing more good stuff like whats already on there?  Anyway keep up the good work.  Peace..

Please let me know when your CD is available.  You should consider a distributor rather than handling the $$ on your own.

I may know of a label here in the US which has done fairly well specializing in your type of music.

Your sound is quite good and transcending.  I think you deserve some airplay especialy here in the US where a lot of new age material is becoming quite popular.  Southern California is certainly a good place to start.  I may be able to be of some help.

Best wishes,

Hey man, I’ve poked around mp3.com and haven’t found much worth keeping let alone much that sounds professional.

You my friend, have managed both. I have, obviously, dled all three of your posted mp3’s and while “summer nights” and “tranquality reassured” are quality, very listenable pieces, “jungle” is just plain superb and professional, impossible categorize using any one-word labels – especially amazing considering you’re a one-man band.
I play “jungle” along with my regular diet of self-ripped mp3s; something that just isn’t true of any other independent musicians on the internet (though, to their credit, i haven’t done too much listening as i connect at a depressing rate). But I would like to think I have reasonably good taste in music; at least, I certainly dig on Vangelis. But enough with the ass-kissing, as I’m sure you’ve heard it all before – I poked around your website as well:) Though I do wish my opinion was worth more in the real world, as I am only a listener and no musician. But I can say that I listen to a great deal of various different kinds of electronic music and I can tell the difference between loops & samples and rythym & melody. As well as my electronic music fetish, the only radio station in town I can leave on the dial longer than one song, is this public jazz station called “The Oasis” (station ID: “KUVO” – on the web at www.kuvo.org, with a live .ram broadcast soon perhaps…). I’d be willing to bet, with your blessing, that I could get the program director to broadcast “jungle”; more than once, hopefully. At the same time as I say that, I definitely don’t want to come across like I’m “cutting you a break” or something, as a) it’s not as if I have any big shot connections or anything and b) KUVO plays music that appeals to intellectual people, and since it’s listener- supported, well, it’s market share is microscopic.
But, hey, it would be cool to become known by the jazz fans of city halfway ’round the world, right? Of course it would:)

Anyways…let me know if I can go ahead and ask KUVO if they’l play your
stuff…

Mr. van Erp,
This is Kevin Plumb (Brother Plumb, an artist at Mp3.com).
I’m also a DJ with WASP (Worldwide Assoication of Shoutcast Productions)
Radio, a small amatuer NetRadio outfit.

I have a show on Sunday evenings at 7:00 Central, dedicated to playing
the hottest songs from yet-unsigned artists, mostly artists from Mp3.com.

I’m writing to request permission to broadcast your song, “Jungle”,
during this Sunday’s (1/17/99) broadcast. A playlist of the show will be

Trenzer,

Just a quick note to say that I think your track “Jungle” on MP3.com
is great! One of the best sounding songs on the site and it reminds
me of a number of tracks from “The City” by Vangelis.

Regards,

Tony Byrne.

Impressive music. I’m pretty much hooked on you. Your
tranquility revisited has a touch of Enigma in it, which
is exactly the type of music I like. Keep up the
incredibly good work and lemme know when that Album comes out, okay?

You’ve got some killer shit man. I really like the imaginative twist
you have. Not much of that around these days. I’d like for you to critique
some of my material. You can find it in the ROCK genre under the band name
LAX LEVITICUS. Drop me a line and let me know what you think.

Hoi,

Ik hoorde je track, ff een vraagje erover ?
Heb je die track echt helemaal zelf geschreven of is het een of ander
jazz/fusion midi filetjes die bijgewerkt is met een slappe
classic ragga jungle beat ???

An machen Stellen bist Du etwas
zu hektisch!? Leider habe ich Jungle “nur” als 64kbps mit 22kHz, daß hört
sich etwas flach an.

Michiel,

I downloaded both JUNGLE and SUMMER NIGHT and both of them are GREAT!!!

I’ll be waiting for TRAQUILITY REASSURED at the end of the week… Will
I be able to download it from MP3.COM?

Are you a real MUSICIAN or is this a HOBBY for you? If this is a HOBBY
I would definetly start thinking of becoming a MUSICIAN!

Listen to you soon,

Fabricio

the experience of publishing your music via mp3 has been satisfying/rewarding
for you. Have you received any TANGIBLE benefit from these compositions?

What I liked best about your ‘Jungle’ track was the skill, intelligence and
effort put into it. It has the essential qualities of “real” music, chords,
harmonies, melodies. It is very moody. I listen to a lot of
trip-hop/acid-jazz creations, and what I like about that track was that your
piano and sax leads all sound original. They don’t just sound like some
sample lifted from a jazz record than looped over a beat. I also like how
the piano is not just a simple one finger lead melody that’s echoed like many
ppl do when creating leads. You have other chords that kick in, and I don’t
know anything about music theory like chord progression, and circles and
stuff, but I know your track sounds complete. Its complex, but not too
confusing to be distracting.

I also really like the subtlety you use when adding different ‘electronica’
elements so it doesn’t sound cliched. For example your use of synths filters
and other background noises are just that…background. They enhance the
overall sound without getting in the way. Especially the synths that
accompany the sax solo. They pick up and fade out perfectly without the
annoying, blaring 303 techno progression that most artists use. Subtlety is
definitely one of your fortes.

I honestly can’t think of anything I didn’t like about it. I prefer various,
intricate drum beats (drum-n-bass style), but rhythms like that would have
detracted from the mood of your piece, and you do mix up different beats in
different sections. I really don’t feel qualified to critique music, but in
my opinion your music sounds more complete than many commercial pieces.

From: Sterling Okura (sterling@[—].com)

Damn dude, your Jungle track on mp3.com blew my mind. I’ve been playing
around trying to create electronic music, and your track was a complete
inspiration. My stuff seems so primative now…You got a great balance,
tight beats, groovy bassline, and flowing jazz-like piano leads. You’re
a friggin musical genius.

Well, keep up the great work

Peace out,
Sterling

Hi Michiel,

How have you been? I downloaded Jungle and love it! I played it for Mary Beth
(my wife) and she made me play it twice. The piano is very well done and
natural sounding. Is this your parents digital piano? I think it really great
that MP3.COM found your song and made it the song of the day. You deserve it!

* I would really appreciate it if you could describe your
* positive AND negative things about this song…

I can assure you that they are all positive. There’s not enough music like
it….could you give me some pointers to some artists who produce other
music like it….it really is very cool…..laid
back…..jazz…..bass…everything. Everyone I’ve played it too so far has
loved it…no matter what music they normally like.

Thanks again,
